The phoenix is the symbol of Atlanta’s rebirth after it was burned during the Civil War and during the fire in Old 4th Ward. There is a capital “A” for Atlanta in the negative space of the graphic. The graphic as a whole is in the shape of a star symbolizing Atlanta’s status as the capital of the south. An arrow is incorporated into the phoenix’s tail and chest pointing upward to represent “Resurgens”, rising up, and generally overcoming hardship.
Definitely one of the better flags on this website, but I feel that the background color is a bit off. A soft-hued green, blue, or even peach would look and fit better.
