The green represents the land of Atlanta which is surrounded by mostly trees and the blue represents the humid climate that contrasts well with the green. The crown-type structure in the middle represents the infamous case of the Burning of Atlanta. The falcon represents Atlanta rising out of the fire and becoming a landmark city. (The crown-type structure could also represent the Appalachian mountains.) The stripe down the middle represents the glimmer of hope, a new era for Atlanta after the strife and turmoil that it went through during the Civil War.
