The red represents the burning of Atlanta from which we rose from the ashes.
The black represents the the railroad upon which Atlanta was founded as well as the color signifying the historic prominence of Atlanta’s African-American leaders and continuing importance of Atlanta in the Civil Rights movement.
The second version of this flag created with a Gold Perimeter which is symbolic of Atlanta’s famous perimeter known as I-285 as with which Atlantans identify as ITP or OTP by this demarcating highway.
